KOMOCO/Sofia Nappi research & repertory

kc workshops are open to professional dancers and movers from diverse backgrounds. they offer a physical and sensorial experience that invites participants to explore a sense of totality in the body and discover new possibilities. in komoco’s research, we work from the idea of connecting to the creature within us – the instinctive, primal part of ourselves that we often forget in daily life. by accessing this deeper physical intelligence, dancers can expand their artistic individuality and express it in endless ways: from powerful, full-bodied forms to the most delicate nuances. the workshop includes a series of physical games, guided improvisational tasks, and exploration-based exercises that allow dancers to navigate between precision and freedom, clarity and chaos, control and surrender. the goal is to unlock a wide and versatile movement range while strengthening the connection between sensation, intention, and form. in workshops open exclusively to professional dancers, the laboratory concludes with the learning and sharing of selected sections from komoco’s choreographic repertoire. komoco artists have taught professional workshops internationally, including in germany, the usa, italy, holland, israel, france, albania, spain, the canary islands, kosovo, belgium, hungary, mexico, serbia, and canada, among others.

the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!

company info

KOMOCO

komoco is an italian-based dance company that was firstly initiated by the collaboration between two sisters who shared a passion for art: sofia nappi, choreographer and performer, and alice nappi, violinist and composer. currently, komoco has quickly grown into playing a relevant role in the international contemporary dance scene and it is directed by sofia nappi, together with her closest collaborators and associates paolo piancastelli and adriano popolo rubbio. komoco's choreographic research is deeply rooted in the exploration of the human experience, seeking to reconnect individuals with their body and therefore their innate essence— an aspect of themselves often forgotten in the chaos and fast pace of modern life. komoco cultivates a movement language that transcends physicality, fostering a visceral, emotional, and sensorial connection between body and its life force, performer and audience.
