UP, BUT DOWN, BUT FAST, BUT SLOW, BUT WILD, BUT SENSITIVE
my research begins with the transformation of the language of breakdancing, exploring new forms, qualities and dynamics, with a special focus on weight distribution and transfer, as well as the use of tension, relaxation and body softness. the intention is to use weight as a physical element that allows us to move quickly and lightly, enhancing the creativity that emerges when the free parts of the body interact with the floor. one of the main focuses of the workshop is how to lighten the hips in relation to the body as a whole and naturalise floorwork, discovering how the essential principles we apply while standing remain present when we move in contact with the floor. we will also work on transforming so-called tricks into simple movements, exploring creativity and the transitions that accompany them. during this process, we will pay attention to where we direct our focus and presence as we move, with the goal of revealing or hiding our points of support through the use of misdirection. this workshop offers a broad and flexible space for exploration, making it accessible to people of different levels and backgrounds. finally, we will seek to integrate the acquired knowledge and physical awareness to play with physical theatre, exploring characters and experimenting with movement and emotion as expressive tools.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
