PARTNERING | CREATION TOOLS
gn|mc have developed together a partnering vocabulary, common in their work, as a constant element that sets up a specific way of approaching movement. this workshop is based on the vocabulary and movement generators developed in gn | mc’s creations. we will search for mechanics in movement, observing it in order to multiply paths and approaches. by understanding the complexity of the movement anatomy, we will look into the possibilities that the body offers to increase the movement vocabulary. for that, we will be focusing on the understanding of the locomotor system to find the functionality and efficiency while dancing with each other. we will be using specific tasks and exercises to prepare the body for this demanding technique, learning strategies by studying different ways to approach our partner(s). we will focus on releasing weight, ways to let go and being efficient within our movement, and also on giving weight and counterweight and how to receive it, absorbing it, finding common axes, to pull, push, jump, block, invite, being invited, etc. within these tools, we will be able to create our own patterns within the group and to develop our sense of responsibility and confidence in trusting ourselves and in others, as well as taking risks.

biography / maria campos
maria campos studied at sead in austria and graduated from the amsterdam school of the arts (mtd) in 2003. she has worked with various companies and freelance artists, combining teaching and her own creation. maria has worked with meekers in the netherlands, protein dance and tom dale in the uk, with sol picó, àngels margarit/cia. mudances in barcelona, among others. since 2006, she has collaborated with the lebanese dancer and choreographer guy nader, with whom she co-founded gn|mc. their works have been presented at international festivals and venues around the globe and have received several prizes and recognition for their work, such as the barcelona city prize 2019, the national german prize - der faust in 2017 for fall seven times, for german company tanzmainz. set of sets was awarded in two different categories at the premis de la crítica in catalunya 2018, and in 2021 with made of space. recently, maria has been awarded best female dancer in premios max 2025 and premis butaca 2025. gn|mc also create and receive commissions from prestigious international companies: tanzmainz and tanztheater braunschweig in germany, en-knap-group in slovenia, xie xin dance theatre company in china, among others. maria regularly teaches workshops and classes at different festivals and schools worldwide, such as b12 in berlin, hjs, mtd/theaterschool ahk in amsterdam, accademia nazionale di danza in rome, summer intensive vilnius, institut del teatre, and la caldera in barcelona.

guy nader is originally from lebanon and first attended the lebanese university in beirut, obtaining a ba in theatre from the arts department. guy co-founded the ensemble gn|mc with fellow dancer and choreographer maria campos in barcelona. his choreographic work continues to find exposure through international festivals and venues around the globe. gn|mc also create and receive commissions from prestigious international companies, such as tanzmainz in germany, en-knap-group in slovenia, tanztheater braunschweig in germany, and xie xin dance theatre company in china, among others. gn|mc was awarded prize city of barcelona in 2019. in 2017, gn|mc was awarded the national german prize der faust for fall seven times with tanzmainz. guy nader’s solo, where the things hide, received first prize in 2010 at 15masdanza in gran canaria. gn|mc's works set of sets earned two different categories at the premis de la crítica in catalunya in 2018, and in 2021 best choreography with made of space. gn|mc have been awarded three different prizes in xxviii premios max de las artes escénicas 2025 for natural order of things as best choreography, best female dancer, and best male dancer. alongside guy's work as dancer and choreographer, he regularly teaches workshops and classes at professional studios and international schools and festivals, including hjs in amsterdam, b12 festival in berlin, zagreb dance academy in croatia, la caldera, and institut del teatre in barcelona, among others.
